What's New
What changed in each version. Whosayz updates itself; this is what each update brought.
0.9.2 October 26, 2026
- See that both sides are coming through: while you record on this Mac, a small panel shows how loud your microphone and the call are, with the time and a Stop button. The menu bar shows a blinking red dot.
- Permissions, explained: Record asks for the microphone and System Audio Recording before it starts, and if one is off, says where to turn it on (with a button to System Settings). Recording Sources shows both.
- Fixed: transcripts with a long pause showed "[object HTMLDivElement]" instead of the pause, and the tour could say "Saving…" forever on its Mac step.
- New installs get a "Whosayz Inbox" folder in Documents; if you already have "Meetings Inbox", it keeps working.
0.9.1 October 23, 2026
- No more made-up words on silence: only the parts of a recording where someone speaks are transcribed, so a recording with nothing audible in it no longer turns into an invented sentence.
- Pauses show in the transcript: ten seconds or more of silence appears as "pause, 1 min 20 s" in the note and on its page, and splits a short note into paragraphs.
0.9.0 October 21, 2026
- Search every note from the sidebar: the list shows the notes that say it, and the note you open highlights each match (Return or ⌘G for the next).
- Records show where they came from: ▶ plays the moment it was said, with the words underneath. Delete a record from Records or the note; on the iPhone, swipe.
- Click any word in a transcript to fix it: just that one, every one in the note, or in all your notes.
- Delete a recording and keep its text, or delete the whole note. Every change can be undone.
- Short memos and long meetings are told apart by what was said, not how long the recording ran.
- A tidier window: Record and + beside the search, the note's actions in one ⋯ menu, speakers as names you click.
- What's New in the Help menu; Settings → Models shows the space models take.
0.8.9 October 19, 2026
- Fix misheard words: select words in a transcript and replace them, in this note or every note.
- Ask for changes: Q&A can fix words, rewrite part of the summary, or add and remove records when you ask.
- Every change can be undone.
0.8.8 October 19, 2026
- Medication calendar: in Records, Meds & Supplements shows a row per medication and a dot on each day you took it, with day-of-week letters. Week to Year.
- Medications, supplements and protein are one list. Type to filter records.
- Back and Forward (⌘[ ⌘]); Records stays where you left it.
- Questions keep being answered when you leave the note, and can ask for drafts like a message to send.
- The menu bar icon animates while Whosayz works and stays small.
0.8.6 October 19, 2026
- Medication names spelled right: names are checked against a list of common medications and supplements. Right-click a record to correct one; every note is fixed, including future ones.
- Longer recordings get their doses and measurements recorded again (not only reminders), without waiting: the note is ready first.
- Fixed: the filters on the Records page didn't respond to clicks.
0.8.4 October 19, 2026
- Records in the sidebar: every reminder, measurement and dose from your notes, filterable, each opening its note.
- Tick reminders off; numeric logs like weight get a chart. Records are on the iPhone too.
- Meetings process about 45 seconds faster: their reminders come straight from the action items.
0.8.3 October 19, 2026
- Fixed: the speech model stayed in memory (about 1.6 GB) after processing. It is now released as soon as a recording is done.
0.8.2 October 19, 2026
- Shorter, simpler wording everywhere.
- A simpler player: play, scrub, and one speed button. "Rewrite note" is now "Save note".
- Fixed: Copy Transcript copied nothing for short notes. Copies no longer include links that only work on your Mac.
0.8.1 October 18, 2026
- Summaries on Macs with less than 16 GB of memory now use gemma4:e2b, the best model that fits them, writing an outline of the meeting first and then the notes. Macs with 16 GB or more keep gemma4:12b.
0.8.0 October 18, 2026
- Meetings and voice notes are now just notes. One list in the window and the menu bar, one folder on your Mac (new installs: Documents › Whosayz), and the same page for every note. Your voice notes are moved in with the rest once, untouched.
- Every note lists what it logs under Records: measurements and doses, and from conversations your own to-dos. Short recordings are still quick: one speaker (you), done in seconds.
- Choosing a new notes folder in Settings offers to move your notes there.
0.7.3 October 18, 2026
- One summary model: gemma4:12b (an 8 GB download). It wrote more accurate summaries than every other local model we tested, including much larger ones, so the Qwen models are retired and settings that named one move to it. Setup offers the download.
- Less memory at once. The speech models and the summary model are never loaded together.
- Faster answers. Questions about a meeting are answered straight away; "Ask again, thinking first" takes longer for harder ones.
- On the iPhone app: voice notes show what was extracted from them (measurements, doses, reminders), and meetings show their summary right away, before the speakers are named.
- Setup says when Ollama needs updating for the summary model.
0.7.2 October 17, 2026
- Uses less memory. The speech models are released as soon as a recording is done (they load again in a few seconds for the next one), and the summary model is released two minutes after use.
- Adapts to memory pressure. When the Mac is short on memory, summaries use a smaller installed model instead of pushing the Mac into swap, or are skipped with a note saying why. Each summary records which model wrote it.
- The largest summary model is now recommended only for Macs with 48 GB of memory or more.
- Fixed: notes made before switching to this version are sent to the iPhone app too.
0.7.1 October 17, 2026
- Fixed: recordings played without sound on meeting pages inside the Whosayz window.
0.7.0 October 17, 2026
- A real window. Your meetings and voice notes in one place, each one's page right beside the list: play it, name the speakers, ask questions. Closing the window keeps Whosayz in the menu bar.
- The tour. Try each way of recording (on this Mac, with Voice Memos on your iPhone or Apple Watch, or with the Whosayz iPhone app) and watch each one become a note. It also lists what to turn on for Voice Memos to reach this Mac.
- Recording Sources shows whether each way of recording is working, and what it needs.
- The Whosayz iPhone app (invitation only for now): recordings reach this Mac through your own iCloud within a minute or so, and your notes show up on the phone.
- Each meeting shows when it was recorded, how long it took to arrive, and how long to process.
- A new icon, and updates now install from inside the app.
0.6.0 October 16, 2026
- Voice notes. Short recordings become quick notes to yourself, with what they log pulled out.
- Choose the model that writes your summaries.
